Qualcomm is preparing to launch the Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset processor for mid-range smartphones this year. This chipset will be used in devices that will fall between the premium flagship and mid-range segments. The specs and benchmarks of the upcoming Snapdragon 8s Elite reveal that it can offer quite powerful performance in the budget segment.
Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed the Snapdragon 8s Elite and claims that it will compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 flagship chip. It has also scored more than 2 million on Antutu, which is equal to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip.
What’s new in Snapdragon 8s Elite
According to Tipster Digital Chat, Snapdragon 8s Elite will not use Oryon cores but will support Cortex-X4 prime cores and A720 efficiency cores. Which will give performance like the previous Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. The chipset will have fewer features and be less powerful than its predecessor Snapdragon 8 Elite.
Qualcomm 8s Elite may see a slight drop in graphics but is expected to be equally powerful as Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. It is said to consume less battery power and will be paired with affordable smartphones priced between Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000.
A report suggests that the Snapdragon 8s Elite has the model number SM8735 and it has been seen before with Xiaomi’s HyperOS operating system. It is rumored to be the first to be paired with the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro or Redmi K90 devices. However, apart from Xiaomi, Honor, iQOO, Vivo, and Oppo brands are also expected to be powered by this chipset.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 8s Elite processor is expected to be announced in March or April 2025. With this chipset, many companies can prepare their devices to compete. Xiaomi may be the first among them.
